Sherry Lou (Lambert) Simantel, 86, of Staunton passed away Monday, November 28, 2016 at her home.
Born September 7, 1930 in Staunton, VA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Cecil and Grace (Gregory) Lambert.
Sherry was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Staunton, and was employed as the church secretary for many years. Prior to her employment at First Presbyterian Church, she worked as secretary at Lee High School.

Born September 7, 1930 in Staunton, VA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Cecil and Grace (Gregory) Lambert.
Sherry was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Staunton, and was employed as the church secretary for many years. Prior to her employment at First Presbyterian Church, she worked as secretary at Lee High School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Simantel; brothers, John B. Lambert, Charles R. Lambert and William G. Lambert; sisters, Mary E. Kennelly and Kathryn L. Collins.
Survivors include her two loving children, Julie Hite and husband, Ronald of Staunton and W. Andrew Simantel and wife, Denise of Baltimore, MD; grandchildren, L. Shane Thomas, Matthew Simantel, Bryce Simantel and Sherry Hite; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church, 100 E. Frederick St., Staunton with Pastor Karen Allamon officiating.
There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
The family would like to give a special heartfelt thank you to Augusta Health and the staff members on every floor for their love and care of Sherry over the last several weeks.
